Everything I Put On My Face

Featuring lifelong skincare enthusiast, Founder of local skincare brand Beaut, and loyal Best customer, Robyn Fenner. She shares her prized skincare discovery and her journey from hormonal-new-mom skin to happy skin.

It’s one thing learning about what skincare your friends use, but it's another discovering what the founder of a skincare brand uses – Introducing, Robyn Fenner, Beaut founder and long-time customer and friend of Best.

We chatted openly about her skincare journey from IVF-hormone-triggered-skin to her Beaut skin she's rocking now. She gives us a glimpse into the products she invented and how she layers them.

Get your pens ready to learn a whole lot and feel inspired.

How would you describe your skin?

What about my sparkling personality? My skin is normal/combination skin, is prone to pigmentation and has moments of hormonal breakouts. It’s trying its best to age and if i’m honest, I am trying my best to slow the process down.

How has your routine evolved over the last few years? And has there been any dramatic changes of late?

My routine has evolved quite dramatically in the last few years. I had been using, testing and probably overdoing, active ingredients for I would say (how old even am I?) 10 years, when my husband and I started trying for a baby. We weren't able to conceive naturally and so began the process of IVF, and let me tell you, this is not kind on the skin. Surging hormones really caused chaos with breakouts and caused my pigmentation to flare. As skin was not really the focus, I tried to remain calm and keep my routine simple and consistent during both IVF and my eventual pregnancy. I maintained the use of my Beauts, as they are all safe for use during pregnancy, and tried to keep myself well watered and healthily fed. Following the birth of my daughter I went into full fix-it mode, and I'm finally in a good place skin-wise.

Okay, so breakdown every product in your day and night routine?

I like to adjust my routine based on the current condition of my skin, and reach for products accordingly. I think “What does my skin need today?” and then go for it. At the moment:

AM before exercising:

  1. Wash: A swipe of micellar water to remove overnight gunk without stripping away any bounce.
  2. Antioxidant: Sunny Skin
  3. SPF: Colourscience No Show mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 (face, neck, chest & ears)
  4. SPF: MartidermActive D Body (arms & legs)

AM after exercising:

  1. Wash: Posh Wash; giving it a good 30 seconds little massage into the skin.
  2. Antioxidant: Sunny Skin
  3. Never leave out step: Face Juice
  4. Moisturizer: A NEW BEAUT LAUNCH - eek
  5. SPF: Ultra Violette SPF 50 Supreme Screen
  6. Colour: it Cosmetics Nude Glow / Chanel fresh Water Tint

PM:

  1. Wash: Posh Wash.
  2. Either:
2.1. Retinol: we are in the development phase with a new Beaut. ( I have a few lab samples in rotation and a few brands that I am testing it against.)
    Or
2.2. Moisture surge: Huxley conditioning Essence Re-Frame
    Or
2.3. Exfoliation: Exuviance Glycolic Polish Mask followed by Ferulic Brew
  3. Never leave out step: Face Juice
  4. A different Moisturizer: ANOTHER NEW BEAUT LAUNCH!

What's your most prized skincare discovery?

Posh Wash, honestly. I was a gel, foaming cleanser girl, with a Foreo, always! We were developing Posh Wash to be an uber foaming cleaning, and during the long R&D process, this creamy cleanser happened. I can’t tell you how it has changed the moisture levels in my own skin. I always thought that squeaky clean was best- not so! It really is so marvelously juicy and protective. I love it.

Side note: We are still going to launch a gel version of Posh Wash soon enough.

What's your body care routine?

Lol. I use my daughter's Mustela Cleansing Oil, yum. Then if I use Dermastine Vitamin A Body on my neck, chest and arms and good ‘ol Pure Cream (thanks Rebecca) everywhere else.

Where do you source most of your skincare intel?

I am such a nerd - podcasts, YouTube, the fine folk over at Dermastore, the internet and probably most importantly, through TRYING every product I can get my hands on. It’s the only way you can touch and feel to see possible results.

Do you have any products you use for special occasions only?

I have a few sheet masks in the fridge. I use these if I am going out, and need to get rid of the mom-puff.

Best skincare advice you've ever received?

Stay out of the sun! Thanks Baz Luhrmann.

Any go-to tricks when your skin is looking 'blah'?

  1. Go outside and get some fresh air and do some exercise, it tends to help get the blood flowing.
  2. Pop on Exuviance Glycolic Polish Mask for a few mins
  3. Over-do the Face Juice.

If you could take only two products with you to an event, what would they be?

Why would we be taking products to an event? What type of event are we going to, I need to prepare? If it’s outdoors, then an SPF, and if it's not, then Face Juice- it’s just my skins’ BFF.

Size Guide

We want you to be entirely satisfied with the way your ring fits. That means we need a little help from you before you choose your size.

Step One

Take a piece of string and wrap it around the base of your finger.

Step Two

Using a pen, mark the point on the string where the end meets.

Step Three

Using a ruler, measure this length in mm.

Step Four

Match your measurement to the table below.

Extra Tips

Don’t forget to allow for enough room to get the ring over your knuckle.

Remember that all of your fingers probably have different measurements. Make sure you measure the specific finger you are buying the ring for.

To be 100% sure, measure your finger at the end of the day. That’s when it is most likely to be at its largest.

US 7
